PSBP 2020 Evaluation turn-out!!!Assumption Middle-School PSBP 2020 Final Results
Students were challenged to plan, design, build, test & evaluate popsicle-stick bridges that met stated specifications with a goal of 100 or less popsicle-sticks and glue. Specifications student bridges were expected to achieve were:
- Be at least 17 inches long.
- Be at least 3 inches wide.
- Be constructed with only the popsicle-sticks and glue provided.
- Be constructed with whole popsicle-sticks.
- Provide smooth driving deck for safe transit of a self-propelled toy car.
- Be able to support minimal weight test; 10 lbs. for 30 seconds.
- Be neat, well-assembled and aesthetically appealing.
The final evaluation was conducted to determine which bridges best met the specifications, student predicted versus actual results and achieve high weight supporting capacity. Based on a maximum of 180 total points, the overall top 3 middle school PSBP 2020 bridge entries are:- Scranton Bridge – 170 pts
- Old Rusty – 165 pts
- London Bridge – 155 pts
Grade 8- Salt-Water Turtle 2.0 – 147 pts
- Big Metal Sombrero – 145 pts
- Bridge Over Troubled Waters – 126 pts
- Scranton Bridge – 170 pts**
- Old Rusty – 165 pts**
- Timmy – 125 pts
- London Bridge – 155 pts**
- Bella Bridge – 130 pts
- Pinkity Drinkity -130 pts
- G8 – Flower Power
